On behalf of the organizing committee I like to welcome everyone to Tehran for the 7th Asia Pacific Otology/Neurotology meeting. This meeting is primarily held every 2 years for the main purposes of promoting education, best clinical practice, advanced techniques/surgical skills and new research in the subspecialty fields of otology and neurotology.
Like every meeting it started as a dream with the simple goal of getting former fellows
together who had trained at the University of Toronto. From humble beginnings this
meeting has grown in international stature where each hosting country can now
showcase the talents of their colleagues amongst a world reknown guest faculty.
Former hosting cities have included Bangkok, Dubai, Singapore and Penang.
During the meeting please take the opportunity to take part in the accompanying
courses, learn new advances and ask members of faculty whatever questions you may
have. It is through exchange of information and ideas that we not only improve
ourselves but also the lives of the patients we care for. I am especially honored and
indebted when looking through history to have this meeting in a region that was one of
the ancient cradles of civilization for our world as we know it today.
In parting I know that Professor Masoud Motasaddi and colleagues have worked
tirelessly to make this meeting a success. Please enjoy the opportunity to catch up with
old friends, meet new ones and mostly to enjoy from the experience of learning.

It was both an honor and a pleasure to hold the 7th Asia pacific Otology Neurotology meeting in Tehran, Iran, 11-13 May, 2016. The 1st Congress of PONS (Persian Otology Neurotology Skull Base Surgery) group was also scheduled at the same time.
I am very proud that this scientific event was held in the ancient country of Iran. I would like to express my cordial thanks to the founders.
Our primary objective of the meeting was to bring together up-and-coming researchers to present and actively discuss up-to-date research results from the fields of otology and Neurotology. Nothing brought me more pleasure than seeing the new insights obtained at this meeting applied clinically and to future research.
Capital of Iran, Tehran, is a metropolitan with a beautiful view and nature of north of Iran Mountains. This city is also a rich historical place to visit. Spring is the most beautiful season of the year in Tehran, and hopefully participants in the meeting enjoyed a comfortable stay here.
We did our best to make this event a memorable scientific experience with good coverage of otology-neurotology topics and interesting workshops.
