Probability of occurrence of central processing auditory disorder in patient with peripheral hearing loss

Objective: Central processing auditory disorder (CAPD) indicates a strong link between lesions of central auditory nervous system and deficits in behavioral and electrophysiologic measures of auditory skills. We studied occurrence of CAPD in peripheral hearing loss.
Method: 62 patients with peripheral hearing loss were evaluated, according BUFFALO model, with tree tests, patients with CAPD divided in four categories.
Results: 36 patients with conductive hearing loss were evaluated 28 patients have CAPD and of 29 patients with sensory hearing loss 26 patients have CAPD Decoding and Tolerance fading Memory are the most category found in both groups .and duration of diseases has influence on CAPD directly.
Conclusion: These results indicates after treatment of peripheral hearing loss either with surgery or hearing aid CAPD must be considered and treated Keywords: Central auditory prosing disorder, peripheral hearing loss, Buffalo model.
